Sandra Bullock's ex-husband calls off next wedding

The ex-husband of actress Sandra Bullock has called off his wedding to new girlfriend, tattoo artist and reality TV star Kat Von D.

Jesse James, 42, announced his engagement less than a year after being divorced by Bullock, who discovered days after winning her first Oscar in 2010 that her husband had been cheating on her.

James told People magazine on Tuesday that he and Von D, 29, had called off their engagement and split up because of the difficulties in maintaining a long-distance relationship between Texas and Los Angeles.

"The distance between us was just too much," James said.

Amy Winehouse sales spike after her death

Thousands of Amy Winehouse fans went to "Rehab" in the United States for a fresh listen to the British songstress who died late last week, according to figures released on Tuesday.

Record sales tracker Nielsen SoundScan said fans of the soul singer snapped up 50,000 copies of her CDs in the week ended July 24, compared to 44,000 units that were purchased in all other weeks of 2011.

Her 2006 smash hit album, "Back to Black," which includes the song "Rehab," accounted for 37,000 of those units sold in the United States, which was the highest weekly total since March 2008. Winehouse's debut album, 2003's "Frank," chalked up 7,600 unit sales, Nielsen SoundScan said.

Of the totals, more than 95 percent were digital downloads.

"Rehab," in which the singer with the beehive hairdo belted out the famous lyrics, "They tried to make me go to rehab. I said 'no, no no'," was the most downloaded single with 34,000 digital sales in the United States.

Fans purchased a total 111,000 Winehouse digital tracks via downloads, an increase of 2,000 percent over the previous week, Nielsen SoundScan said.

Winehouse died at her London home on July 24, at age 27, so it's likely the sales figures will spike even higher for the week ending Saturday, July 31, because fans were just learning of her death on the final day of the weekly tally.

Throughout much of her career, the singer struggled with drinking and drug problems, but on Tuesday, her father said she had been exercising every day and doing yoga recently.

Jennifer Love Hewitt to Robert Pattinson: OMG! Bite Me!

Jennifer Love Hewitt has taken time out of her engagement ring shopping to express her undying devotion to Robert Pattinson.

"I love him," the actress told Access Hollywood this week, prior to delving into a story that left her heartbroken:

“I actually waited in line to take a picture with him after the very first premiere for like an hour and 15 minutes and as I got up to take my picture, they were like, ‘Rob are you tired?’ and he’s like, ‘Yes,’ and he left. And I was standing there like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Forty women from Milwaukee got their photo, but not me.”

In response to Hewitt's feelings for Pattinson, Billy Bush tells her in the interview that she can cover the Breaking Dawn red carpet for his show. JLH's reaction?

“Are you kidding? Are you kidding? Really? Shut up! Are you kidding? Oh my God! It’s like getting a rose on The Bachelor right now, this is amazing. Oh my gosh, I’m gonna get teeth. I’m gonna wear teeth, I’m gonna be like ‘Bite me!’

"I’m gonna get him to sit on my lap. That’s what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna be like, ‘Tell me everything, please sit.’ I am so excited!”

Wait... Hewitt's reaction to joyful news is to compare herself to a contestant on The Bachelor?!? She may have a few issues.

Probe over Lohan 'jewellery theft'

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is facing possible theft charges after police obtained a search warrant to look for a £1,500 stolen necklace at her California home.

But before detectives could search her home near Venice Beach, a freewheeling boardwalk known for its mix of performers, tourist shops and seaside gym, someone who police would not identify handed in the necklace.

Police presented a potential case against the actress on Wednesday night, although prosecutors will not make an immediate decision on whether to pursue charges, district attorney's spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said.

Officer Bruce Borihanh of Los Angeles police said the investigation into the Mean Girls star was for possible grand theft.

The allegations bring more problems for Lohan, 24, who is still on probation for a 2007 drink-driving case and is also being investigated for an alleged assault on a rehab worker in December.

Kamofie & Co, a Venice custom jewellery shop within walking distance of Lohan's home, reported the necklace stolen on January 22, about three weeks after the actress was released from three months of court-ordered rehabilitation at the Betty Ford Centre. The treatment, her fifth rehab session, came after she admitted failing a drug test shortly after being granted early release from another treatment programme.

Regardless of the decision by prosecutors in Los Angeles and Riverside County, where Betty Ford is located, Lohan is due back in court on February 25 for a probation hearing.

Jeff Kaman, the husband of store owner Sofia Kaman confirmed that the necklace involved in the Lohan case was from Kamofie, but declined to comment further.

According to the store's website Kamofie's jewellery has been featured in several celebrity magazines, including a photo of actress Amanda Seyfried in People magazine's "World's Most Beautiful" people issue last year.

Lohan's frequent legal troubles, including lawsuits, two rehab stints and two trips to jail in 2010 alone, have led to the actress appearing more in court than on the big screen in recent years. Her role as porn star Linda Lovelace in a biopic was recast while Lohan was being treated at Betty Ford.

Elizabeth Hurley splits from her husband Arun

Elizabeth Hurley splits from her husband Arun

Elizabeth Hurley has announced the end of her three year marriage to Arun Nayar amid reports of an affair with Australian cricketer Shane Warne.

On Sunday, the News of the World alleged that the 45-year-old model had become involved with Shane, claiming to have pictures and videos of the couple embracing.

And later that same day, Elizabeth seemingly responded to the news on her Twitter page.

"Not a great day," she wrote. "For the record, my husband Arun and I separated a few months ago.

"Our close friends and family were aware of this."

Elizabeth and Arun started dating in 2003 and married in March 2007 in Gloucestershire.

Days later, they held a week-long celebration in Jodhpur, which included a Hindu wedding ceremony

Miley Cirus Caught Smoking From Bong On Video

Earlier Friday (December 10), footage of Miley Cyrus smoking from a bong appeared online. In the clip, Cyrus giggles and talks to an unidentified woman who is filming the teen star. The bong was reportedly filled with salvia, a psychoactive herb that is legal in California.

On Friday afternoon, Cyrus' father, Billy Ray, took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the video. "Sorry guys. I had no idea," he wrote. "Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. I'm so sad. There is much beyond my control right now."

Just hours before he reacted to his daughter's clip, he tweeted about Jesus being on Twitter, seemingly unaware of the scandal that was brewing online. "Oh wow! I'm so excited !!!" he wrote. "I tweeted follow Jesus and He showed up!!! I didn't know He was on twitter!!! I'm following Him ......"

The video was reportedly filmed in Miley Cyrus' L.A.-area home on November 28, just days after she turned 18. "Having a little bit of a bad trip," she laughs in the video, moments after taking a hit from the bong. Cyrus then looks off in the distance and asks, "Is that Liam [Hemsworth]'s lookalike, or what the hell is that? Is that my boyfriend?"

She then spends the next 90 seconds laughing uncontrollably while someone behind the camera asks her to "tell us your thoughts, girl, tell us what's on your mind!" The footage reportedly got out when "someone stole or copied the video from that friend's camera," a source told. A rep for the star has yet to comment on the matter.

Legal experts weighed in, noting that Cyrus is not breaking the law in the video since she was of age and allegedly smoked the substance in a state where salvia is legal. "[The video] might be embarrassing to her, but it does not put her in any legal risk," Keith Stroup, legal counsel at the marijuana advocacy group NORML, told MTV News on Friday. "At the moment, [salvia] is not illegal in California, so even if she walked out on the street and smoked it in front of police, she couldn't be arrested. And the video of her smoking isn't enough to get her in trouble, because there's no proof she wasn't smoking tobacco."

"Salvia is a drug of concern," said Michael Sanders, a spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Agency. "We are taking steps to look further into it."

'Fair' Fight: Sean Penn v. Liman v. Naomi Watts?

I've always had a belligerent sort of personality," Fair Game director Doug Liman tells Anne Thompson. When I gave Liman his first national coverage, 5,000 words in Rolling Stone in the '80s, I thought he was a peaceable college kid going places. Guess I was half right. Thompson says he so pissed off Sean Penn on the set, Penn boycotted promoting the film, which particularly needs buzz to counteract the impression that betrayed patriots Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson (played by Naomi Watts and Penn) are, as Karl Rove's attorney has said, "a little past their sell-by date." Thompson also speculates that Penn calculated its Oscar odds are low.

So Naomi Watts, the only one who's got an Oscar prayer for Fair Game, despite Penn's glowing reviews, is sharing campaign duties with Liman. She fields my call, getting up early in Thailand on the set of her second Summit Entertainment picture in a row featuring an irresistible force of nature, the tsunami movie The Impossible. "On set they got on absolutely fine," says Watts. "Sean and I had three weeks together -- there were no spats on the set then. But yes, we were all very passionate about the film."

What did happen was Watts' titanic artistic struggle with Liman, who told Thompson, "I've heard about how uncontrollable I was as an infant" and that, as director of Fair Game, "I would've been terrified of me."

"Doug and I got on very well," says Watts. "You expect to go through a few wrestling matches." Theirs was about how to play Plame, a personality so guarded she makes Steve Martin look like an oversharer. "She does have this otherworldly strength. She's such a hard character to play because she's hard to read, quite stoic. Not a hard person at all, just careful, dignified. As an actor, you want more drama, juicy meat. She was a person who didn't freak out, didn't get hysterical." Not getting to get hysterical can make an actress hysterical -- not that Watts did, but she felt she had to fight to convey Plame's inner trauma as the highest powers in the U.S. for which she risked her own and others' lives turned against her.

"As Woody Allen says, I believe there's a higher power watching over us -- unfortunately, it's the government," I tell Watts. "Did Woody Allen say that?" she says.

Watts talked to Plame. "I said, 'Cmon you must've broken at times.' In the film, she says, 'You can't break me, I'm unbreakable.' Of course there were moments where she felt the earth would eat her alive. Doug felt that she was made of steel." Inspired, he gave Plame's characteristics to Piper Perabo on his USA TV show Covert Operative, just as he'd populated The Bourne Identity with characters from his father Arthur Liman's investigation of the real-life Iran/Contra conspiracy.

Watts kept trying to crack through the character's carapace to the heart inside. "That's my job as an actor. I fought with Doug about that and most of the time he won. Finally I got some moment of victory, the moment in the bathroom where she's burshing her teeth and we were leaving [the location]." She demanded one take where she got to lose it a little. "I said, 'You don't have to use it, but shoot it!'

Watts likes the high-stress Liman process. "On most movies you're constantly waiting and trying to keep your energy at a certain level. He likes to move with great veracity -- I mean velocity." Both, no doubt. And if anybody gets an Oscar nom out of Fair Game, veracity and velocity will be the twin reasons.

"Thanksgiving Is A Celebration Of Murder," Says Actress Angelina Jolie, Allegedly

Millions will delight in Thanksgiving festivities tomorrow. Angelina Jolie is not one of them, electing not to commemorate the genocide of Native Americans.

"Angelina Jolie absolutely hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans," a friend of the actress tells.

Valid point, but pumpkin pie just tastes so good ...

Thanksgiving Hater

NO THANKS-GIVING: Angelina Jolie is not a fan!

"To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn't her style," the friend says. "[Jolie] doesn't want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder."

Not sure how many of us toast to murder at the dinner table on this day, but she prefers to think of herself as a citizen of the world, not just America.

Always extremely sensitive to suffering throughout the world, she's going to great lengths to make sure the Jolie-Pitt brood doesn't honor it here.

Pamela Anderson Boosts Ratings in Bollywood

Former Dancing with the Stars contestant Pamela Anderson brought her fancy footwork, and big ratings, to Bigg Boss, India's version of Big Brother. According to The Toronto Star, ratings skyrocketed with her appearance on the show, which is making headlines for other reasons as well.

Due to content deemed "objectionable" by Indian officials Wednesday, the show was pushed to air after 11 p.m. This decision was overturned Thursday by a high court, with a final call deferred until a hearing on November 22. The content in question includes a female contestant dropping her towel, a passionate kissing scene, and derogatory language.

Anderson didn't have time to get fully settled in the house. She arrived on Wednesday and checked out on Friday. During her visit, the actress and model learned some words in Hindi, the only language spoken by her fellow housemates. Plus, she strapped her dancing shoes back on to learn a traditional Hindi dance.

Anderson's Bigg Boss wardrobe, including a saree and the salwar-kameez which consists of a loose shirt top and pyjama-style pants, were specially made by Mumbai-based fashion designer Ashley Rebello. “I was contacted by Colors (the Hindi TV channel owned by Viacom18) and only given a day to create a special Indian look for Pamela Anderson," Rebello said

World's Sexiest Couple

On Monday, GQ named Scarlett Johansson its Babe of the Year; On Wednesday, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, was crowned Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine, joining a distinguished list that includes John F. Kennedy Jr., George Clooney, Mel Gibson and Denzel Washington.

"There are a few people who might think this is a mistake," Reynolds said after the announcement. Calling himself a late bloomer, the buff actor said he looked "like sort of a very athletic girl up until I was about 21."

He and Johannson became legally required to look at each other's ugly mugs when they married in September 2008.

Ronni Chasen, 64, Shot and Killed in Beverly Hills

The famed publicist crashed into a light pole at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Famed publicist Ronni Chasen died after being shot five times in Beverly Hills early Tuesday morning.

Chasen then crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a light pole around 12:30 a.m.

Ed Winter, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County coroner's office, confirms her death to The Hollywood Reporter. An autopsy will be completed Wednesday or Thursday.

A Beverly Hills Police spokesperson tells THR: "On November 16th 2010 at approximately 12:28 a.m. Beverly Hills police officers received info regarding shots that were heard in the area of Sunset and Whittier, shortly after a collision was reported in the same area. Units arrived and discovered a newer black Mercedes Benz E-350 involved in a solo crash to the light pole. The lone female occupant was located in the vehicle with apparent multiple gunshot wounds to her chest. Beverly Hills paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The investigation is in the preliminary stages and no further information is available at this time. At this time there is no suspect, info or motive for this crime."

A spokesman from the Beverly Hills police department added that some search warrants have been issued as a matter of routine, a forensic examination of the car is underway and "our detectives are looking at all aspects of this crime." He said the investigation is in its "infancy" and the police are not putting forward any theories regarding the murder at this time.

"It's an unusual incident for the City of Beverly Hills," he added.

Police called to the scene said Chasen was "in and out of consciousness, but breathing," according to RadarOnline.com. She was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Earlier that night, Chasen -- as always a presence on the red carpet eagerly tending to her clients' interests -- attended the premiere of Burlesque.

Chasen began her career as a publicist in 1973, and worked on films such as 1989's Driving Miss Daisy and 1997's Lolita.

In February 1993, she was named senior vice president of worldwide publicity at MGM.

"I was both delighted and surprised when MGM approached me about this position," Chasen said then. "I've given this very careful thought, and, although I will miss working with my personal clients on a day-to-day basis, I look forward to this new opportunity with great enthusiasm ... this will be a very exciting period for the company, and I am delighted to join the MGM team."

Chasen also worked for Rogers & Cowan for a number of years.

Why Are No Female Directors on Hollywood's 10 Highest-Earning Women List?

James Cameron, Michael Bay and George Lucas dominated Forbes' men's list.

Forbes' annual Hollywood's 10 Highest-Earning Women list has one thing missing: female directors.

James Cameron, George Lucas and Michael Bay dominated the men's list, making $210 million with Avatar, $95 with Star Wars and $120 Million with Transformers.

But Kathryn Bigelow, who won the Best Director Oscar this year for Hurt Locker, didn't earn enough to crack the list. Her drama made $16.4 million compared to ex husband Cameron's $2.8 billion with Avatar.

The only actress on the list is Sandra Bullock, at No. 6, who earned $56 million with her two hits, The Proposal and The Blind Side (which won her the Best Actress Oscar), and her producing work.

Unsurprisingly, Oprah Winfrey, who launches her OWN network on Jan. 1, topped the list with $315 million. Beyonce, who comes in No. 2, made $87 million, which, as Forbes points out, would have put her No. 9 on the men's list. The remaining top-earning women wouldn't have placed at all on the men's list.

Collectively, the highest-earning men made $1.2 billion between June 1, 2009 and June 1, 2010, compared to the $835 million the women brought home in the same time period.

Teen Mom Farrah Abrahm Denies Neglecting Her Daughter

farrah-abraham-teen-mom-child-abuse.jpg

Can we just preface this with how confused we are about how these girls got so famous. We get that the show is popular, but what kind of message is it sending teenagers having these girls put their difficult lives on display, but then show them all glamorous in magazines?
We just had to put that out there.

A childcare worker for Teen Mom star Farrah Abrahm stepped forward this week to claim that the teenage mom regularly "forgot" her daughter and left her with her for up to 12 hours a day and sometimes up to seven times a week.

Farrah has finally come forward to deny these claims, insisting that she would "never forget" her child and that this woman is only making up stories "to make money" from magazines. She told sources that her daughter Sophia is "all [she] thinks about" and refutes the woman's other claim that her daughter hasn't been growing physcially and mentally as other children her age. She insists:

"Sophia has been walking- she's been walking for 9 months. That includes when Brittney was taking care of her…Sophia is doing awesome - she's healthy and really good - a cute little toddler now. She says lots of sentences, like "I love you" all the time. She loves watching Barney. She plays with the kids in the park on her "park day" all the time. The other day she was with us while we were walking my sister's dog and she was sharing the dog with all of the kids on the playground. Sophia is very nice child; she knows her manners and she's very friendly with other kids."
Sounds well adjusted to us, but that's if we take your word on this.
Trouble with being on a reality show when you have kids is that the show needs just as much, if not more attention than your actual child. Some adults don't know how to handle this kind of a situation, so how are we to expect a girl her age can?
It's really very sad, for both her and her daughter.

All eyes on Emma Watson at Harry Potter premiere

Fans of Harry Potter rejoice!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, the seventh and penultimate picture from the popular series opens in India on November 19.

But London got to see it first when the movie had its world premiere in the city on Thursday, with fans braving wind and rain to watch their favourite Potter characters -- Harry, Ron and Hermione -- on the red carpet.

And what an evening it turned out to be. Grabbing maximum eyeballs was Emma Watson, who plays Hermione, with her dramatic new look.

The 20-year-old looked all grown up in a new super short bob and killer black dress.

'Harry Potter' Stars Wouldn't Return If Franchise Went On

Daniel Radcliffe says it'd be "very doubtful" that he'd return for another film, while Emma Watson may quit acting completely.

With a week to go before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 takes over the box office, two of the franchise's young stars may already be done with their iconic big-screen roles.

Responding to J.K. Rowling's recent interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show in which she noted that she hadn't ruled out writing more Harry Potter books, Daniel Radcliffe told Sky News that it'd be "very doubtful" that he'd be a part of another film in the franchise.

"Oh God, she promised me categorically that there wouldn't be another book involving Harry. I think 10 years is a long time to spend with one character," Radcliffe said of playing the boy wizard.

Co-star Emma Watson, meanwhile, noted that she's considering abandoning acting completely.

"[Being cast as Hermione] happened when I was very young and this was one role and it has transformed the whole of my life but it doesn't necessarily mean this is what's going to make me happy," she noted. "I want to be able to explore a few other things as well."

One thing is certain: Neither Radcliffe nor Watson needs to work. A Vanity Fair salary study in March listed Radcliffe at No. 6 with earnings of $41 million in 2009 and picking up paychecks of $20 million for each film in the two-part installment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with Watson (No. 14) — and co-star Rupert Grint (No. 15) — earning $15 million per film.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 opens Nov. 19 with the second half of the series' conclusion slated for a July 2011 release.

Famed Producer Dino De Laurentiis Dies at 91

Famed film producer Dino De Laurentiis, who was behind Serpico, War and Peace and Dune, has died. He was 91.

De Laurentiis, who has been making movies for nearly 70 years, passed away inside his Beverly Hills home, where lived with his third wife, Martha. He has six daughters; his only son, Federico, died in a 1981 plane crash. His granddaughter, Giada, is a chef on the Food Network.

“Cinema has lost one of its greats," Rome Film Festival founder Walter Veltroni told the AFP. "The name of Dino De Laurentiis is tied to the history of cinema."

De Laurentiis was born to pasta-maker parents on Aug. 8, 1919 in Torre Annunziata, which is near Naples, but moved to the U.S. in the 1960s.

De Laurentiis entered the film industry at age 20, and went on to produce more than 500 movies, including those by Federico Fellini and Roberto Rossellini.

He won his first Oscar in 1956 for Fellini's La Strada, and another in 1957 for Nights of Cabiria. He was nominated at least 30 more times, and received the Irving G.Thalberg Memorial Award in 2001 at the Oscars for demonstrating a "consistently high quality of motion picture production," according to Bloomberg.

“I’ve been very lucky in my long life,” De Laurentiis said afterward. “On three continents, in diverse cultures, through happy moments, not-so-happy moments, and moments as marvelous as this one, I’ve had the privilege of working with the cinema’s greatest masters.”

The Venice Film Festival honored him with a lifetime achievement award in 2003.

Nephew Aurelio De Laurentiis, a film producer as well, and the chairman and a leading shareholder of the SSC Napoli soccer club, said: “Uncle Dino was a witness to the rebirth of Italy after the second world war and he told that’s story through film, making him of the architects of the Golden era of Italian film.” He lived in the U.S. so long, Aurelio said, that he was not completely Italian, but neither was he American. “He lived in his own way, someone who brought Italian style to the world capital of film.”

Fellow director and Turin Film festival artistic director Gianni Amelio said: “Dino De Laurentiis was probably the most important film producer Italy ever had, and he left his mark on two great nations, in Italy and the United States.”
